Merry Christmas!

star_christmas_cake

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Here is this year’s Christmas cake, iced rather inexpertly, but with plenty of love to make up for it. (I doubt anyone will notice after a few bites–it is really boozy.)

I’ve got to say that I am in love with edible gold lustre. I have a feeling that I’ll be daubing it on as much food as possible until it runs out. It’s so sparkly–the colour came out a bit flat in the picture alas, but it really does sparkle in the flesh. Or crumb, as it were.

If you need some last-minute icing inspiration, then BBC Good Food has plenty, including the one I used.

And now that all the presents are wrapped, extra mince pies baked, and the house has been cleaned… I’m going to watch some festive telly and put my feet up.
